On the football pitch, there’s no denying that Messi is truly an exceptional player. That’s indisputable. However, I can’t help but withhold the affection I’d readily give to other athletes. In my eyes, Messi is simply a “fake philanthropist.”
Messi’s Crafty Mask: Messi’s genius lies in his ability to cleverly conceal his true nature. In the eyes of the public, M10 always portrays himself as a perfect star: skillful on the field, gentle, likable, loyal, and even seemingly naive. He’s not the flashy, arrogant type like Cristiano Ronaldo – “raw but real.”
Yet, if you peer beyond that beautiful facade, you’ll discover a Messi who is just as conniving, cunning, and far from being the “angel” he portrays.
The Deceptive Messi: Don’t be fooled by Messi’s poker face. When it comes to living the high life and enjoying the company of women, Messi is no less extravagant than his fellow footballers. But Messi is smarter; he keeps his debauchery hidden. Remember, Messi once discreetly hosted a wild sex and booze party in his luxury apartment when he returned to Argentina for the Copa America. This scandalous incident was exposed by Argentine reporters, not by external forces trying to tarnish his image.
It was Messi – a beloved and seemingly friendly footballer – who left fans frustrated with his cold attitude when receiving autograph requests. If you don’t believe it, just ask three unfortunate fans, James McWatt, Ryan Hill, and Steve Carruthers. Moreover, Messi and his teammates pressured the hotel management to kick these fans out. What a “friendly” star he is!
More Deception: The “fake philanthropist” Messi, who always presents himself as a gentle star in front of the media, is actually a grumpy and confrontational character. Jose Callejon, a Real Madrid player, affirmed that he witnessed Lionel Messi “cursing” both assistant coach Aitor Karanka and defender Alvaro Arbeloa on the field when things didn’t go his way.
Most recently, when his tax evasion scandal was exposed, Messi, on one hand, portrayed himself as innocent in the media but, on the other hand, tried to use his wealth to avoid legal repercussions while still engaging in charity work to garner public sympathy. If he genuinely wanted to help, he could have used a portion of the money he evaded to make a real difference in the lives of many.
Reading these lines, many may rush to label me as a keyboard warrior or a “keyboard hero.” However, I am not tarnishing Messi’s image; I am simply shedding light on the truth that not everyone sees.
Nevertheless, in my eyes, Messi remains a pretentious individual, no more and no less! Be true to yourself, Messi!
