Real Madrid’s midfield maestros, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, have cemented their commitment to the club following a memorable Champions League victory over Liverpool. After the exhilarating celebrations following Los Blancos’ 1-0 triumph in Paris, the 36-year-old Modric signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until June 2023, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Kroos quickly echoed the sentiment in his comments to Goal Espana, affirming, “I will continue here at Madrid… for two more years.” The duo’s announcement came as an extension of a glorious night for Real Madrid, where Vinicius Jr’s goal sealed their victory over Liverpool. Once again, Modric and Kroos showcased their timeless brilliance in midfield, complemented by their longstanding partner, Casemiro, who is 30 years old himself.

Despite continuous questions about their age and fitness, this trio has consistently proven their mettle against the world’s finest teams. To clinch their 14th Champions League title, Real Madrid had to overcome formidable opponents such as Inter, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Liverpool. Modric and Kroos were integral to this success. Modric’s decade-long tenure at Real Madrid, after his move from Tottenham, demonstrates his desire to finish his illustrious career at the club. Meanwhile, Kroos, who joined from Bayern Munich in 2014, shares a similar commitment, with both players now boasting an astonishing five Champions League titles each.

While Real Madrid has been planning for the future with talents like Marco Asensio and the acquisition of rising star Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes, they remain firmly anchored to the present with Modric and Kroos. The Spanish champions are also in a favorable position to secure the signature of Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni this summer, ahead of Liverpool, who also covet the 22-year-old Frenchman.

Regardless of the reinforcements, it is evident that neither Modric nor Kroos is ready to bid farewell to their illustrious careers at Madrid just yet.
