With only a few days left in the La Liga season, Real Madrid suffered an unfortunate injury to Thibaut Courtois, their top goalkeeper, following the end of the preseason.

The Belgian’s anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury was officially confirmed by the Merengues.

As a result of the severity of the injury, he was forced to have surgery, which was previously anticipated to cause him to miss the entire season.

How soon will Courtois be back?

Courtois is likely to return in the latter part of the season, around April, according to Fabrizio Romano, who has stepped out to provide a new update on the goalkeeper’s recuperation situation.

The keeper might be eligible to participate in the remaining matches of the season because Real Madrid’s final La Liga match is on May 26 against Real Betis.

Real Madrid supporters will sigh with ease knowing the Belgian will return before the season’s end.

But as the team attempts to rely on its current options, they will still have to wait their turn and go through a significant portion of the season without the Champions League victor, who is once again in contention to win the Yachine Trophy.

Real Madrid will rely on Kepa in the interim.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was one among Los Blancos’ top alternatives to replace Thibaut Courtois after Courtois tore his ACL early in the season.

To replace Courtois, Kepa joined Chelsea on a one-year loan, and in the two matches he has started for the Royal Whites, he has won both of them.

Kepa, who is currently starting in place of Andriy Lunin, will be an important component of Real Madrid’s goalkeeping staff until Courtois is available.
