As the deadline of July 31 approaches for Kylian Mbappe to decide on renewing his contract with PSG, the forward posted a cryptic message on his Instagram account. The photo depicts Mbappe at Monaco with hidden clues in the form of playing cards. On July 31, the 24-year-old star must respond to PSG regarding his contract extension or transfer, as asserted by the club’s president, Nasser Al Khelaifi, on July 5.
Meanwhile, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed that PSG has reached an agreement to sign Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona, activating his release clause worth €50 million. Dembele has agreed to join PSG and is set to sign a contract until June 2028.
PSG’s acquisition of Ousmane Dembele aims to replace Mbappe, who seems determined to stick to his stance of not renewing and staying until his contract ends in June 2024, as reported by Marca (Spain).
The transfer of Mbappe remains at an impasse, with potential deals from English Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool seeking a loan for Mbappe, but PSG is only open to selling the star if he doesn’t agree to an extension.
Currently on an Asia tour, PSG is set to face Inter Milan in Tokyo, Japan on August 1, and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in Busan, South Korea on August 3. After this period, the team will return to their training center, Cite Sportif de Poissy, to prepare for the new Ligue 1 (France) season starting on August 12.
“Luis Enrique and PSG face a challenging situation with Mbappe, not knowing whether to play him or keep him on the bench until things are resolved. Meanwhile, Real Madrid remains silent, yet to submit an official offer for Mbappe. There has only been one offer from Saudi Arabia, which Mbappe declined,” assessed Marca.
