Portugal were 1-0 winners in Slovakia, thanks to a goal – assisted by Bernardo, finished by Bruno Fernandes – just before half time.

Dias and Bernardo were central to Portugal’s success. Man City defender completed 87 passes in total – more than anyone else.

Joao Cancelo, currently on loan at Barcelona, also played the first 62 minutes.

Meanwhile, Croatia were comfortable victors with a 5-0 defeat of Latvia in Rijeka.

For Croatia, Gvardiol was his usual composed self until his half-time substitution.

The defender had 66 touches in just 45 minutes, completing 60 passes as Croatia dominated the ball. His compatriot Mateo Kovacic was an unused substitute.

Tite decided to put Ederson in the starting position instead of Alisson, who protected Brazil’s goal in the last two World Cups. Ederson has 100% pass accuracy, which is about all he had to do for most of the game. Had to make two late saves, and may feel he could have done better on the goal.
