This development has prompted Manchester United to shift their focus solely onto the Cucurella deal, foregoing negotiations for any other left-back options. The Red Devils are keen on expediting the agreement with Chelsea and finalizing the deal as swiftly as possible.

The ongoing discussions reflect the dynamic nature of the transfer saga. According to reliable sources at The Athletic, Manchester United initiated the negotiation process by submitting an initial proposal to secure Marc Cucurella on loan from Chelsea. However, this initial offer was swiftly turned down by the Blues.
The Spanish player’s lack of playtime under coach Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge has fueled his desire to explore new opportunities.

Manchester United has identified the 25-year-old as a short-term solution to bolster their left-back position, particularly with Luke Shaw facing a two-month hiatus due to a muscle injury and Tyrell Malacia sidelined as well.

The first offer from Manchester United involved a one-season loan for the former Brighton star. Under this proposal, the Old Trafford outfit was willing to pay a fee of 5 million euros and cover Cucurella’s entire salary for the 2023/24 season, as he is currently receiving at Chelsea.

However, Chelsea’s response was quick and assertive. The Blues expressed their willingness to allow Cucurella to move to Old Trafford, but only if Manchester United agreed to include a buy-back clause at the end of the season.

Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, but sources suggest that Manchester United’s chances of acquiring Cucurella remain uncertain. It’s worth noting that prior to this development, Chelsea and Manchester United reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Mason Mount.

The English midfielder made the move from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford in a deal worth 55 million pounds.

Beyond Cucurella, Manchester United is exploring other left-back options, including Nicolas Tagliafico and Marcos Alonso. Presently, Manager Erik ten Hag is considering deploying Diogo Dalot in the left-back position as a potential solution.

As negotiations continue, the football world eagerly awaits the outcome of this intriguing transfer saga involving Marc Cucurella and his potential move to Manchester United.
