Negotiations for a contract extension between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly underway, with sources revealing to ESPN that the club is optimistic about his continued stay.

After a prolonged period of uncertainty that saw Mbappé miss the preseason Asian tour and the Ligue 1 season opener against Lorient, he returned to PSG’s first team on Sunday.

Sources told ESPN that following positive talks on Saturday, Mbappé has committed to PSG and pledged not to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires next year. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi communicated Mbappé’s commitment to the team.

Ahead of the clash with Lorient, coach Luis Enrique expressed hope that PSG could find a resolution to the standoff with Mbappé, highlighting the club’s experience in managing contract issues with the forward.
