Rafaela Pimenta, the renowned Brazilian lawyer who manages the empire left by super-agent Mino Raiola (who passed away on April 30, 2022), has made a bold statement regarding Erling Haaland’s future. She revealed that Haaland has a clause in his contract that allows him to free himself from Manchester City and leave the club if he becomes dissatisfied.
Erling Haaland, valued at €170 million, is currently the most valuable star on Rafaela Pimenta’s client roster.
Pimenta further explained, “I have negotiated every contract for this agency’s players for the past 25 years, one by one. Not a single player has ever said ‘I want to leave’ that I couldn’t make it happen. I support the freedom in players’ decisions. In each contract, I provide what I call the ‘key to the door.’ When they are not satisfied, the key is in their hands, and they can decide their own future. Of course, we always create the best conditions for the players at the club, so they can give their all.”
However, the football world is filled with changes and issues, such as when a club fails to provide sufficient wages or when unforeseen circumstances occur, and a player wants to leave. In those situations, they have the right to make their own decisions,” Pimenta added.
Rafaela Pimenta made this statement amidst a major investigation faced by Manchester City, with over 100 allegations of financial fair play violations from the English Premier League organizers.
If found guilty of multiple serious infractions, Manchester City could face severe penalties, including point deductions in the Premier League, relegation, and various disciplinary actions, as well as potential revocation of championships won during seasons with misconduct.
This situation also raises the possibility of a mass exodus of top stars from Manchester City, with Erling Haaland being one of them. Currently, Real Madrid in La Liga is actively pursuing his signature. Even manager Pep Guardiola declared his immediate departure from the club if Manchester City is found to have committed serious violations of financial fair play regulations.
Despite securing a historic treble (FA Cup, Premier League, Champions League) with Manchester City in 2023, Haaland could still seek an exit if he desires.
