Luka Modric is a Croatian football player who currently plays for Real Madrid club. His journey from a young refugee to becoming the best player in the world has been an arduous and difficult one.

Luka Modric was born and raised in a family of refugees due to Croatia’s war of independence. His family lived in a small house in the village of Modrici, near Jasenice, an area occupied by the Serbian army. During the war, Luka Modric’s father was murdered by the Chetniks. Later, the Modric family became refugees and lived in refugee camps in the city of Zadar.

Despite the challenging circumstances, Modric did not give up and dedicated time to practicing football. He often played football in the Kolovare refugee camp and developed his skills despite the deprived and unstable environment. Modric also faced older opponents and consistently excelled against them.

After a successful club career, Modric became one of the best players in the world. He won numerous prestigious individual awards, including the 2018 FIFA Ballon d’Or. Modric was also instrumental in the success of the Croatian Team, helping them reach the 2018 World Cup final.
